The Magic Pool's Secret
Lily loved the old swimming pool behind her house. It wasn't just any pool – it was magical, especially under the full moon.
One summer night, Lily crept outside in her pajamas. The water glowed with tiny silver lights, like stars trapped inside. She dipped her toe in, and ripples of purple and blue swirled around her foot.
Suddenly, something splashed in the deep end. Lily gasped. A toy bull bobbed to the surface – her old toy that she'd lost months ago! But this bull was different. Its eyes sparkled, and it moved slowly, almost like a little zombie bull rising from a deep sleep.
"Hello," said the bull, in a voice that sounded like bubble wrap popping. "I've been waiting for you."
Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"
"The magic pool gives gifts to those who believe," the bull explained, swimming gracefully through the glowing water. "I was stuck in the mud at the bottom, half-asleep like a zombie toy, until you arrived. Your friendship woke me up."
Lily laughed and reached out her hand. The bull swam closer, and she lifted him onto the edge. He shook himself dry, and little droplets turned into tiny butterflies that fluttered away.
"Will you be my friend?" Lily asked.
"Always," promised the bull. "But tomorrow, I'll be just a toy again. The magic only lasts until dawn."
Lily understood. Some magic is special because it doesn't last forever. She spent the rest of that magical night swimming with her enchanted friend, making wishes on shooting stars and listening to the bull's stories of the secret world beneath the pool's surface.
As the first light of morning painted the sky pink, the bull's eyes dimmed. He became still – just a toy once more.
Lily carried him inside, tucking him safely on her pillow. She knew the truth now: magic is real, friendship is powerful, and the most wonderful adventures are the ones you keep safe in your heart.
