The Magic Pool's Secret

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's garden, especially the hidden corner behind the rosebushes. There, she discovered something amazing—a shimmering pool as clear as glass, with water that sparkled like captured sunlight.

One warm afternoon, Lily knelt beside the pool to watch the dragonflies dance. Suddenly, a sleek orange fox with the brightest eyes she'd ever seen peeked from behind an old oak tree.

"Hello, little friend," the fox said softly.

Lily gasped. "You can talk!"

"I can do many things," the fox replied with a mysterious smile. "My name is Felix. I guard this magic pool. Would you like to see something wonderful?"

Lily nodded, her heart pounding with excitement.

Felix flicked his tail, and the pool's water began to swirl. Instead of seeing her reflection, Lily saw something else—an ancient golden pyramid rising from endless sands, beneath a sky of twinkling stars.

"The Pyramid of Wishes," Felix whispered. "Inside lives the Great Bull, who grants one special wish to those pure of heart."

The image in the pool shifted again. Inside the pyramid's treasure room stood a magnificent bull statue made of bronze and rubies. But as Lily watched, the statue's eyes opened, glowing with ancient magic.

"Why can't everyone see this?" Lily asked breathlessly.

"Because the pool only reveals its secrets to those who believe in magic," Felix explained. "And who treat all creatures with kindness."

Lily thought carefully. She could wish for anything—unlimited toys, fame, treasure. But she thought of her grandmother, who missed her grandfather so much since he passed away.

"I wish," Lily said clearly, "for my grandmother's happiness."

The bronze bull in the vision nodded his massive head approvingly. The water glowed golden, then returned to normal, showing only Lily's wondering face.

"A wise wish," Felix said warmly. "You've learned the most important secret of the pool. The best magic is the kind that helps others."

From that day on, Lily visited Felix often. She learned that true friendship isn't about what you can get—it's about what you can give. And somehow, her grandmother began to smile again, finding joy in the smallest things.

Some nights, when the moon was full, Lily would peek at the pool and see the Great Bull's ruby eyes twinkling back, as if sharing a wonderful secret between friends.
