The Magic Pool's Secret

Lily loved exploring her grandmother's backyard. It was full of surprises, but nothing compared to what she discovered one hot summer afternoon.

She was wearing her favorite red hat, the one with the tiny bell that jingled when she walked. Her curly brown hair bounced underneath it as she tiptoed toward the old swimming pool behind the garden shed. The pool hadn't been used in years, and Grandmother said it was filled with regular rainwater.

But Lily knew better.

She sat at the pool's edge and peered into the shimmering blue water. Something sparkled deep below. Lily reached into her pocket and pulled out her old iphone—she used it only for games and taking pictures of bugs. She turned on the flashlight and pointed it into the water.

Gasping, she leaned closer. The pool wasn't filled with rainwater at all. It was filled with tiny, glowing creatures that looked like miniature stars with wings!

"Hello there!" a tiny voice bubbled up.

Lily nearly dropped her iphone into the water. A small star-creature with rainbow-colored wings floated to the surface. It was no bigger than her thumb.

"I'm Pip!" the creature said cheerfully. "And you're the first human to visit our pool in one hundred years!"

Lily's eyes grew wide. "You live down there?"

"We're Star-Fliers," Pip explained. "We collect wishes from children and keep them safe until they're ready to come true. See your hat? It caught a wish when you were three!"

Lily touched her red hat gently. "Really?"

"Really!" Pip did a happy flip in the air. "Your wish was to find magic. And here we are!"

From that day on, Lily visited the magic pool every afternoon. She learned that the best magic wasn't in potions or wands—it was in believing that wonderful things could happen anywhere, even in an old backyard pool.

And whenever her friends asked why she always wore that red hat, Lily would just smile and jingle the tiny bell.

Some secrets are too magical to explain. But they're perfect for sharing with your heart.
