The Magic Pool's Gift
Lily had always been afraid of the water. While other kids splashed and laughed at the neighborhood swimming pool, she sat on the edge, dangling her feet. Her curly red hair always seemed to have a mind of its own, bouncing with excitement even when Lily felt scared.
One hot afternoon, Lily noticed something strange. The old pool behind the abandoned house on Oak Street—the one everyone said was haunted—was glowing. Soft blue light rippled across its surface, and sparkles danced in the air around it.
Curious, Lily crept closer. The water was crystal clear, yet deep as the ocean. But what amazed her most was her reflection. Her hair wasn't red anymore. It was flowing like underwater seaweed, shimmering in every color of the rainbow.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" said a voice. Lily jumped. A small turtle with a silver shell sat on a rock nearby. "I'm Splash. This is the Magic Pool of Dreams. It shows who you really are inside."
"But I'm afraid of swimming," Lily whispered.
Splash smiled. "The pool doesn't ask you to be brave. It asks you to trust yourself. Look at your hair. It knows you belong here."
Lily looked at her reflection again. Her rainbow hair swirled and danced as if beckoning her forward. Slowly, she slid into the water. Something magical happened—she didn't sink. She floated! The water felt like a warm hug, not something scary.
"Everyone has magic inside them," Splash said. "Sometimes we just need the right place to find it."
Lily began to swim, laughing as she twirled through the glowing water. Her hair left trails of sparkle wherever she went. She wasn't just swimming anymore; she was flying.
From that day on, Lily visited the magic pool every day. She became the best swimmer in town, but she never forgot its secret. Whenever she saw another child sitting by the pool, looking afraid, she'd sit beside them and say, "Your hair knows something wonderful about you. Would you like to find out what?"
And soon, the whole neighborhood learned that courage isn't about not being scared. It's about finding the magic that was inside you all along, just waiting for the right moment to shine.
