The Magic Pool Pyramid

Lily, Marco, and little Zoya were playing padel in the backyard on a hot summer day. The ball bounced faster and faster until—WHOOSH!—it sailed over the fence and disappeared behind the old stone shed.

"I'll get it!" Lily called, racing around the corner. But she stopped in her tracks. "You guys! You have to see this!"

Marco and Zoya hurried after her. There, glowing softly in the dappled sunlight, stood a miniature pyramid no bigger than a birdhouse. It shimmered like pearls, with tiny hieroglyphs that seemed to wiggle and wink.

"It wasn't here yesterday," Marco whispered.

Zoya reached out and touched the pyramid's smooth surface. Suddenly, a beam of golden light shot into the sky, and the ground rumbled. A hidden door slid open, revealing stairs spiraling down into darkness.

"Should we go in?" Lily asked, her eyes wide.

"Together," Marco said, taking their hands.

The stairs led them to an underground grotto filled with glowing crystals. In the center bubbled a crystal-clear pool, and floating on its surface were dozens of ripe, golden papayas.

A voice echoed around them: "Welcome, young adventurers. This is the Pool of Wishes. Each papaya holds one dream—but you may only choose one for all three."

The friends looked at each other. Zoya wanted a puppy. Marco wished for a treehouse. Lily dreamed of traveling the world.

"If we pick my wish, you'll never get your puppy," Marco said sadly.

"And if we pick Lily's, Marco's treehouse is gone," Zoya added.

Lily thought hard. "What if... what if our wish is for all of us to always have adventures together?"

Marco's face lit up. "Then we'll build the treehouse together!"

"And we can save up for a puppy as a team!" Zoya cheered.

They chose a papaya together. As they took a bite, the entire cavern filled with rainbow light. When they blinked their eyes open, they were back in the backyard.

The pyramid was gone. But in their hands, they each held a small crystal—shimmering proof of their promise.

And that's how Lily, Marco, and Zoya learned that the best wishes are the ones you share together, side by side, forever and always.
