The Magic Pool Pyramid

Leo hated spinach. Every time his mom put those green leaves on his plate, he made a face. But today was different.

"Eat your spinach, Leo. It'll give you super strength," Mom said with a wink.

Leo rolled his eyes but took a bite. Suddenly, the world began to shimmer. His backyard pool wasn't just a pool anymore—it was a portal to somewhere magical.

He stepped closer and gasped. The water had turned into liquid crystal, and rising from the center was a magnificent pyramid made entirely of blue light. It pulsed with energy, calling to him.

Leo held his breath and jumped through the glowing water.

Inside the pyramid, everything was upside down. The floor was the sky, complete with fluffy clouds you could bounce on. The ceiling was an endless ocean with colorful fish swimming through the air.

"You came!" a tiny voice squeaked.

A boy about Leo's age floated beside him, surrounded by floating baseballs that hovered like planets. "I'm Pip. Welcome to the Pyramid of Play!"

"Where are we?" Leo asked, touching a cloud.

"This is where all the fun in the world lives!" Pip grinned. "But we have a problem. The Grump-Giant has stolen our Star Ball. Without it, the Pyramid will fade away—and so will all the fun on Earth!"

Leo's eyes widened. "We have to get it back!"

They found the Grump-Giant sitting on a pile of stolen toys. He looked sad, not mean. His giant knees were pulled to his chest.

"Why did you take the Star Ball?" Leo asked bravely.

The giant sighed, and his breath made bubbles in the air. "Nobody ever plays with me. I'm too big and clumsy. I just wanted someone to throw the ball back."

Leo smiled. He understood what it felt like to be left out. "I'll play with you!"

For hours, they played the most wonderful baseball game ever. The giant's throws made sonic booms. Leo's hits sent balls shooting through the pyramid's floating islands like comets. Even Pip joined in, using his magic to make curveballs that spelled words in the air.

"This is the best day ever!" the giant laughed, returning the Star Ball. It glowed brighter than ever.

"Friendship makes everything more fun," Pip said wisely.

The pyramid gave Leo a gentle push back through the pool. He surfaced in his backyard, spluttering and laughing.

"Leo! What are you doing in the pool with your clothes on?" Mom called from the kitchen.

Leo smiled and climbed out. He ran to the kitchen and sat at the table. "Mom," he said, "can I have more spinach?"

Mom's eyes went wide. "Did my ears just hear that right?"

Leo took a big bite and winked. "You never know when you might need super strength—for friendship."
