The Magic Pool Pyramid
Lily loved her backyard pool, especially on hot summer days. One morning, she noticed something strange—a perfect pyramid of floating pool toys had formed in the center: rubber ducks, glittery noodles, and a giant pink flamingo.
"That's weird!" said her best friend Mateo, peeking over the fence. "I didn't know your toys could stack themselves!"
Lily swam closer. The pyramid began to glow, and a tiny creature popped out from between the rubber ducks. It looked like a little person with green skin and messy hair, but it was wearing bright swimming goggles.
"Hello!" squeaked the creature. "I'm Zim, the Pool Zombie! Well, not a scary zombie—I'm just a bit sleepy from napping in your pool filter all winter!"
Lily and Mateo laughed. Zim explained that he was a magical guardian who made sure pools stayed fun and safe. The toy pyramid was actually a magical portal that opened every summer.
"Want to see something amazing?" Zim asked. He tapped his goggles, and suddenly the pool water turned into sparkling rainbow swirls. The pyramid spun, and images appeared inside its glowing triangles—children laughing, splashing, and having fun in pools all around the world.
"Your pool is special," Zim said. "It's one of the happiest places on Earth! All that joy creates magic."
Lily felt warm inside. She'd never thought that having fun with friends could create magic.
"Can we visit other pools?" Mateo asked excitedly.
Zim shook his head. "The magic works best when you make your own fun. But guess what?" He winked. "You two are now Official Pool Guardians! Your job is to keep the magic going by being kind, sharing toys, and including everyone."
Lily and Mateo beamed at each other.
"Deal!" they said together.
All summer long, they made sure every kid in the neighborhood felt welcome at the pool. They shared goggles, taught swimming, and even built new pyramids with pool toys. And sometimes, just sometimes, they'd catch a glimpse of green skin and swimming goggles peeking out from the water.
The magic wasn't in the zombie or the pyramid, Lily realized. It was in the friendship they shared and the joy they created together.
