The Magic Pool of Wonders
Lily discovered the hidden pool behind her grandmother's garden one sparkling summer morning. It wasn't an ordinary swimming pool. The water shimmered with rainbow colors, and tiny silver fish darted through crystal-clear depths.
"Grandma, what is this place?" Lily called, her eyes wide with wonder.
Her grandmother smiled, her wrinkles crinkling like dried apple slices. "This, my dear, is the Magic Pool of Wonders. But only those who eat their special spinach can see its magic."
Lily wrinkled her nose. She had never liked spinach. But curiosity bubbled inside her like a fizzy drink.
Grandma handed her a bowl of emerald-green leaves. "Try it. This spinach makes you brave."
Lily took a tiny bite. Surprisingly, it tasted like sunshine and adventure! Suddenly, the pool began to glow brighter. A small furry creature popped up from the water. It looked like a cross between a panda and an otter, with big friendly eyes.
"I'm Padel!" the creature squeaked happily. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to visit!"
Padel explained that the pool could grant one wish to anyone kind enough to befriend its guardian. Lily and Padel spent the afternoon playing magical games—catching rainbow bubbles, racing on lily pads, and sharing stories.
When the sun began to set, Padel asked, "What's your wish, Lily?"
Lily thought carefully. She could wish for toys or candy or even more adventures. But then she remembered how lonely Padel must be, guarding the pool all alone.
"I wish that Padel could have friends visit every day," Lily said.
The pool erupted in sparkles. Padel's eyes filled with happy tears. "Thank you, Lily! That's the kindest wish anyone has ever made."
From that day on, Lily brought her friends to the pool. They all learned that trying new things (like spinach!) and being kind to others brings the greatest magic of all—friendship.
And every time Lily visited, Padel was there waiting, ready for another wonderful adventure.
