The Magic Pool of Star-Drops
Lily discovered the secret pool on a Tuesday, exactly when she needed it most. It wasn't a regular swimming pool — it was tucked between two ancient oak trees in the forest behind her house, glowing softly like captured moonlight.
"What ARE you?" Lily whispered, leaning closer.
The pool rippled. A tiny head popped up — a newt with bright orange spots and wise, knowing eyes.
"I'm Oliver," said the newt. "And this is the Vitamin Pool."
"Vitamin Pool?" Lily giggled. "Pools don't have vitamins!"
"This one does," Oliver said proudly. "Each drop is a different wish-vitamin. Blue drops give you courage. Pink drops make you invisible for exactly seven seconds. Green drops help you understand what trees are saying."
Lily's eyes widened. "Can I try?"
"Only if you promise to share," Oliver said. "Magic vitamins work best with friends."
Lily thought of her friend Emma, who had been sad since her cat disappeared. She cupped her hands and dipped them into the glowing water. A golden drop landed in her palm, warm as sunshine.
"What does gold do?" she asked.
"Gold helps you find what's lost," Oliver said. "But remember — it only works if you're helping a friend."
Lily ran all the way to Emma's house, the golden drop shimmering in her pocket like a tiny star. When she reached Emma's backyard, she sprinkled the drop near the garden fence.
Sparkles danced through the air like fireflies. A meow echoed from behind the rosebushes.
"Mittens!" Emma cried, hugging her cat.
That night, Lily returned to the magic pool with Emma. Oliver the newt was waiting.
"I knew you'd come back," he said. "Friendship makes the vitamins work better. That's the real secret."
Lily and Emma sat by the glowing water, watching drops of blue, pink, and gold float like tiny lanterns. They realized the pool wasn't magic because of what it GAVE them, but because it reminded them that the best things in life — friendship, kindness, and helping others — were the real vitamins that made your heart grow strong.
And every Tuesday after that, the two friends visited the pool. Sometimes they took home a drop of courage or a sprinkle of finding-what's-lost. But mostly, they just sat together, watching the starlight ripples, grateful that they had found something more magical than any potion: each other.
