The Magic Pool of Dreams

Lily discovered the secret pool on the hottest day of summer. Hidden behind her grandmother's garden, it shimmered with colors that changed like a rainbow trapped in water.

"What are you doing here?" a voice squeaked.

Lily jumped. A tiny green frog sat on a lily pad, wearing what looked like a small crown made of spinach leaves.

"I'm Lily," she whispered. "Who are you?"

"I'm Prince Finley," the frog announced proudly. "This is no ordinary pool. It's the Pool of Dreams! Whatever you imagine becomes real—but only if you're true to your heart."

Lily's eyes widened. "Anything?"

"But beware," Finley warned. "The pool rewards kindness and courage. Greedy wishes turn to bubbles."

Lily thought hard. She could wish for infinite candy, or a castle, or...

"I wish," she said slowly, "for a friend who needs help finding their way home."

The water sparkled golden. From the pool emerged not a person, but a small, sad-looking rabbit with tangled fur.

"Thank you," the rabbit whispered. "I've been lost for days."

Lily knelt down. "I'm Lily. What's your name?"

"Rosie," said the rabbit. "I chased a butterfly and couldn't find my way back."

Without hesitation, Lily picked a handful of fresh spinach from her grandmother's garden. "This will give you energy for the journey."

As Rosie munched happily, Finley hopped onto Lily's shoulder. "The pool chose well. You didn't wish for yourself."

Together, the three friends set off through the garden. Lily showed Rosie the way back to the meadow where her family lived. Rosie's mother cried happy tears and invited Lily to visit anytime.

On the walk back, Finley revealed the pool's magic was fading. "Only someone with a pure heart could find it. You're special, Lily."

"Or maybe," Lily smiled, "I just understand that the best wishes are the ones we make for others."

That evening, Lily returned to the pool. It had disappeared, leaving only ordinary garden dirt. But in her pocket, she found a small spinach-leaf crown—a reminder that magic lives in kindness, and the best adventures are the ones we share with friends.
