The Magic Pool in the Palm

Lily loved running through her grandmother's garden, past the swaying palm trees and the old dried-up pool that hadn't held water for years. But today, something magical happened.

As she ran her fingers along the rough palm trunk, she felt something warm and round tucked in the bark—an orange as bright as a miniature sun. When she pulled it free, the orange began to glow, pulsing like a tiny heartbeat.

Suddenly, water began to bubble up from the old pool's drain, sparkling with rainbow colors. Lily gasped as a girl about her age appeared beside her, swimming as if the water had always been there.

"I'm Maya!" the girl called, her laugh like music. "Throw the orange into the pool! It's a wishing pool!"

Lily hesitated. This orange had found her—should she really give it away? But something about Maya's hopeful smile made her trust her new friend.

She tossed the orange into the sparkling water. Instead of making a wish, she said, "I wish for Maya to have a friend who visits every day."

The orange dissolved into golden light that filled the whole garden. The pool's magic showed them both their reflections—not as they were, but as they could be: brave, kind, and never alone.

"That's the real magic," the pool seemed to whisper. "Friendship is the brightest light of all."

From that day on, Lily and Maya met by the magical pool every afternoon, running through the palm trees as the orange sunset painted the sky. They learned that the best wishes aren't the ones you keep for yourself, but the ones you share with others.

And sometimes, if you look closely, you can still see a tiny orange glow at the bottom of the pool, reminding everyone that true friendship makes ordinary places extraordinary.
