The Magic Pool in Maya's Backyard

Maya was playing in her backyard when she noticed something shimmering behind the old oak tree. It was a pool she'd never seen before, with water that sparkled like diamonds. As she stepped closer, the water turned the color of ripe papaya, glowing golden and warm.

Curious, Maya dipped her fingers in. Suddenly, her messy brown hair began to float as if underwater, even though the rest of her stayed dry. Tiny bubbles of light floated up around her head.

"Greetings, young friend!" A voice made Maya jump. Standing near the pool was a green-skinned creature, but not a scary one. This zombie had flowers growing from his head and wore a gardening apron covered in seeds.

"I'm Zed, the Zombie Gardener!" he said cheerfully. "And this is the Wishing Pool. What brings you here?"

Maya's eyes widened. "I found this old iPhone in the garden," she explained, pulling the broken phone from her pocket. "I wished it could work again so I could take pictures of butterflies."

Zed laughed, a sound like rustling leaves. "The pool can help, but first you must help me!" He pointed to a tiny papaya sprout. "This plant needs laughter to grow. Can you tell it something funny?"

Maya told her best joke—the one about the chicken crossing the road. The papaya plant instantly grew taller, producing three glowing orange fruits.

"Now," Zed said, plucking one papaya and dropping it into the pool. The water swirled with rainbow colors. "Make your wish!"

Maya wished for her iPhone to work—not for games or videos, but to capture nature's beauty.

The pool pulsed with light, and suddenly the iPhone in her hand turned from broken black to shimmering silver, covered in tiny glowing flowers.

"Remember," Zed said as he began to fade, "magic works best when your wish comes from kindness. The pool will return whenever you need it."

Maya ran inside to show her mother. The iPhone took the most beautiful photos, each one capturing a tiny bit of magic. That night, as Maya brushed her hair, she discovered something wonderful—tiny papaya flowers had appeared among her curls, a reminder that kindness grows the sweetest magic of all.
