The Magic Pool in Maya's Backyard
Maya stared at the empty swimming pool in her backyard. It was dusty and dry, but something shimmered in the corner.
"What's that?" she whispered.
A tiny fairy with bright blue hair flew out from behind a leaf. "I'm Lily! This isn't just any pool — it's a Magic Pool! But it needs something special to work."
Maya's eyes grew wide. "Something special?"
"A sunshine vitamin!" Lily explained. "The most magical vitamin in the world. It comes from morning hugs and happy laughter."
Maya thought hard. She gave her mom a big squeeze that morning. And she laughed when her puppy did a silly tumble. "I think I have some!"
She closed her eyes and imagined all her happy moments. Golden sparkles appeared in her hands.
Lily clapped. "Perfect!" The fairy sprinkled the sparkles into the pool, and suddenly — WHOOSH! — crystal blue water appeared.
But there was more. Floating in the water was an old iPhone. Maya fished it out.
"That's no ordinary phone," Lily said. "It shows you what's in people's hearts. Try it!"
Maya pressed the screen. Instead of apps, she saw her neighbor Mr. Chen looking lonely. She saw her little brother wanting someone to play with him.
"The Magic Pool helps you help others," Lily explained. "That's the real magic."
Every day that summer, Maya visited the pool. She brought neighbors to swim. She played games with lonely kids. The sunshine vitamin grew stronger with every kind thing she did.
By summer's end, Maya's hair had turned the same bright blue as Lily's — a sign of a true helper.
"You're a real magician now," Lily said.
Maya smiled. She learned that the best magic wasn't in pools or phones or even fairies. The real magic was kindness, and the sunshine vitamin was inside her heart all along.
