The Magic Pool Guardian

Lily, Max, and Sophie loved exploring the woods behind their house. One Saturday, they brought their **baseball** gear and **padel** racquets, looking for a place to play.

"Let's check the old swimming hole," Max suggested.

They pushed through tall grass until they found it—a crystal-clear **pool** surrounded by ancient oak trees. But something was different. The water sparkled with tiny silver lights, like stars trapped in liquid.

"Whoa," Sophie whispered. "Is it... glowing?"

Suddenly, the ground rumbled. From behind a mossy rock, a creature emerged. It had greenish-gray skin, tangled hair, and clothes covered in fallen leaves. It groaned and staggered forward.

"A **zombie**!" Lily shrieked, dropping her racquet.

The creature stopped. "I'm NOT a zombie," it said in a grumpy but gentle voice. "I'm Oliver, and you woke me up from my hundred-year nap. I look this way because moss and leaves fell on me while I slept."

Oliver dusted off his tattered jacket. "I'm the Guardian of the Magic Pool. Legend says when children come to play together, I should wake up and join them."

Max laughed. "You want to play with us?"

"I haven't played in a century!" Oliver's eyes lit up. "What's **padel**? What's **baseball**?"

The children spent the afternoon teaching Oliver their games. They played **padel** against an ancient tree trunk and used sticks for **baseball**. Oliver was terrible at first, tripping over his own feet and swinging wildly. But he laughed the loudest of anyone.

"You're supposed to hit the BALL, not the air," Sophie giggled as Oliver missed again.

"I'm a bit rusty," Oliver chuckled.

As sunset painted the sky orange, Oliver stopped playing and looked at his friends. "Thank you. In my time, children played alone. They didn't share. You three include everyone, even a strange creature from a hundred years ago."

The pool's silver lights swirled around them.

"That's the magic," Oliver explained. "Friendship. Sharing. Including others. THAT'S what makes the water glow."

That night, the children promised to return. And Oliver, the not-really-a-**zombie** Guardian, finally had real friends—and a proper game of **baseball** to look forward to.
