The Magic Pool Friend

Lily had no friends. She spent her days alone in the garden, staring at the empty swimming pool her parents had forgotten to fill. But one rainy afternoon, something magical happened.

A single goldfish appeared in the deep end, swimming in rainwater that had collected there. Lily gasped. How had a goldfish gotten into their empty pool?

"Hello there," the goldfish said.

Lily nearly fell into the pool. "You can talk?"

"I'm not an ordinary goldfish," said the fish, whose scales shimmered like tiny stars. "My name is Finnick, and I'm here because I heard you wishing for a friend."

Lily's palm pressed against the warm concrete pool edge as she leaned closer. "I do wish for a friend. A real one."

Finnick swam to the surface. "Take me home in a bowl, and I'll show you something amazing."

Lily carefully scooped Finnick into a jar and carried him inside. But that night, Finnick grew. And grew. By morning, the goldfish was the size of a cat, swimming in the bathtub and creating magical bubbles that floated through the house.

Each bubble showed Lily a different adventure—a castle made of clouds, an underwater kingdom, a forest where trees sang. Finnick explained these were doors to magical worlds, and she could visit them all if she became his friend forever.

"Being friends means caring for each other," Finnick said. "You must keep my magical secret, and I'll show you wonders beyond imagination."

Lily promised. She and Finnick became the best of friends. They visited bubble-worlds together, met talking rabbits and dancing dolphins, and collected stars in jars.

But Lily grew lonely keeping such a wonderful secret to herself. One day, she invited the shy girl next door, Maya, to meet Finnick.

Maya's eyes widened. "He's amazing!"

Finnick beamed. "Perhaps two friends are better than one."

And just like that, Lily wasn't lonely anymore. She had Finnick, Maya, and countless magical adventures waiting in every bubble. She learned that true friendship grows when shared, and magic is always better with friends.
