The Magic Pool Discovery

friendiphonepool

Lily sat by the edge of the old swimming pool in her grandmother's backyard, dangling her feet in the cool water. The pool hadn't been used in years, and green vines grew around its edges like nature's own fence. Lily was supposed to be playing with her new iphone, but she couldn't stop staring at the mysterious pool.

Grandma said the pool held magic. "Only true friends can see it," she'd whispered with a wink.

Lily wasn't sure what that meant, but she wanted to find out. She tucked her iphone safely on a dry rock and leaned closer to the water.

Suddenly, the water began to shimmer and sparkle like millions of tiny stars. A face appeared—a tiny creature with blue skin, silver hair, and eyes that changed color like a rainbow.

"Hello!" squeaked the creature. "I'm Marina! Are you a friend?"

Lily gasped but nodded. "I'm Lily. Are you... magic?"

Marina laughed, and the sound was like water trickling over smooth stones. "This pool is a doorway between worlds. I've been waiting for someone who would put away their screen and really look."

Lily felt her cheeks get warm. She'd almost missed this moment because she was busy with her iphone.

Marina reached up a tiny hand. "Come visit my world! But you must leave the phone behind. Magic doesn't work through screens."

Lily hesitated only a second before grabbing Marina's hand. The water wrapped around her like a warm blanket, and suddenly she was standing in an underwater kingdom filled with glowing coral, friendly fish wearing tiny hats, and castles made of pearl.

"Everyone!" Marina called out. "This is Lily! She's a real friend!"

Sea creatures cheered and invited Lily to play games, hear stories, and taste fruits that fizzed like soda pop. For hours, Lily laughed and explored, forgetting all about her iphone.

When it was time to leave, Marina hugged her tightly. "Come back anytime. A true friend always returns."

Back in her grandmother's yard, Lily found her iphone right where she'd left it. But now she knew something better: magic lived everywhere, and the best way to find it was to look up from screens and really see the world.

That night, Lily dreamed of glowing coral and rainbow-eyed friends, already planning her next visit to the magic pool.
