The Magic Pool at Palm Tree Lane

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house, especially the backyard where the tallest palm tree in the whole neighborhood stood. Its rough trunk stretched up like a giant's leg, and green fronds waved hello in the breeze.

One hot summer afternoon, Lily noticed something she'd never seen before. Behind the palm tree, hidden by its broad leaves, was a tiny pool no bigger than a bathtub. The water sparkled like someone had sprinkled diamond dust across its surface.

Lily knelt beside it. The water was the clearest blue she'd ever seen.

"Hello?" she whispered.

A bubble rose to the surface. POP! A tiny fairy with wings like a dragonfly flew out. She was no bigger than Lily's thumb.

"Welcome to the Wish Pool," the fairy chimed. "I'm Pearl. I've been waiting for someone kind to find me."

Lily's eyes grew wide. "You're REAL!"

Pearl landed on Lily's palm. Her feet tickled like feathers. "This pool gives magical vitamins to children who need them most. Not the kind you swallow with breakfast. The magic kind—courage vitamins, friendship vitamins, bravery vitamins."

Lily thought about her friend Marcus, who was too scared to join the soccer team. And Emma, who missed her grandmother terribly and felt lonely.

"Can I get some for my friends?" Lily asked.

Pearl smiled. "That's why you found the pool. Only children with kind hearts can see it."

Pearl flew over the water. Three bubbles floated up. Each glowed a different color—golden for courage, silver for comfort, and rainbow for friendship.

"One drop on each forehead while they sleep," Pearl explained. "The magic works best when given with love."

That night, Lily tiptoed into Marcus's room and touched his forehead with the golden drop. Then she visited Emma and gave her the silver one. The rainbow drop? She saved it for herself, to always remember that kindness was the greatest magic of all.

The next day, Marcus signed up for soccer. Emma smiled again, her heart lighter. And Lily? She visited the palm tree every day, always leaving small gifts—shiny rocks, flowers, pretty feathers—for Pearl.

Some magic, she learned, isn't about what you get. It's about what you give away.
