The Magic Pool and the Brave Ball
Lily loved summer days, especially when her golden retriever Buster was by her side. But this hot afternoon was different—they'd discovered something magical behind the old oak tree.
A crystal pool shimmered there, glowing with rainbow colors that danced like fireflies. "Buster, look!" Lily whispered, her eyes wide with wonder.
Buster barked happily, his tail wagging so fast it became a blur. But as they stepped closer, something rumbled beneath the ground. Out from the shadows stepped a magnificent bull—not a scary one, but a bull with a coat like starlight and eyes that held ancient wisdom.
"Greetings, young ones," said the bull, whose name was Orion. "This is the Pool of Dreams. It shows you your heart's deepest wish."
Lily peered into the water. She saw herself playing baseball, hitting home runs that sailed into clouds, surrounded by cheering friends. But then the image changed. She saw herself sharing her baseball with children who had none, teaching them to play, their laughter filling the air like music.
"The pool shows two paths," Orion said gently. "One is for glory alone. The other is for joy shared. Which path would you choose?"
Lily thought about her dusty baseball glove at home, and how much fun it was when everyone played together. "The second one," she said firmly. "Because happiness is better when it's not just yours."
The bull nodded, and the pool's glow intensified. From its depths rose a magnificent baseball—one that sparkled with a light of its own. "This is the Ball of Friendship," Orion explained. "Every time you share joy with others, it will glow brighter. And when someone feels lonely, its light will guide them to friendship."
Buster licked the ball, making Lily giggle. The ball's light turned warm and pink, like cotton candy.
"Thank you, Orion!" Lily said, hugging the bull's enormous leg. "I'll share this with everyone at the park tomorrow."
As the sun set, the magical pool faded, but the ball remained—glowing softly in Lily's hands, promising tomorrow would be the best baseball game ever played.
That night, Lily dreamed of bull constellations and pools of starlight, knowing that the best magic wasn't in wishes granted, but in wishes shared with friends—both old and new.
