The Magic Pool and Friendly Zom

Lily discovered the secret pool behind the old oak tree on a sparkling Tuesday. The water shimmered like liquid diamonds, and beside it stood a magnificent palm tree with leaves that whispered secrets in the breeze.

"Hello there!" called the palm tree. "I've been waiting for you."

Lily gasped. "You can talk?"

"Of course!" The palm's leaves swayed. "But watch out — someone else is here too."

From behind a rock peeked a green figure with messy hair and crooked teeth. It looked like a zombie, but instead of saying "BRAINS," it moaned: "SPINACH..."

"Oh, that's just Zom," said the palm tree. "He's not scary. He's a magical zombie who woke up from a hundred-year nap, and he's terribly hungry."

Lily wasn't frightened. "I have spinach in my lunchbox! My mom packs it every day."

She pulled out fresh green leaves. Zom's eyes lit up. He grabbed the spinach and gobbled it happily.

"Delicious!" Zom cheered, suddenly standing taller. His skin turned from gray to a healthy glow. "The spinach woke me up!"

"Want to go swimming?" Lily asked. "The pool looks magical."

They splashed into the crystal water. But as Zom began swimming, something amazing happened — wherever he swam, the water turned into rainbow colors! Fish made of pure light swam beside him.

"The pool responds to kindness!" the palm tree exclaimed. "Zom, you're not a zombie anymore. You're ALIVE because you made a friend and shared good food!"

Zom looked at his hands — they were warm and pink. "I'm me again!"

"And now we're friends," said Lily, floating on her back beside him. "Friends share spinach and swimming pools."

From that day on, Lily visited the magical pool every summer. She and Zom would swim among rainbow fish while the palm tree told them stories of magic and friendship.

And sometimes, when other children called Zom a scary zombie, Lily would just laugh and say, "You should see him swim! He's the most magical friend in the world."

Because true friends don't care what you look like — they care about your heart.
