The Magic Pool Adventure
Lily couldn't believe her eyes. The backyard pool, usually just a blue rectangle, was glowing with swirls of rainbow light. She stepped closer, her bare feet tingling on the warm concrete.
"Hello?" she whispered.
A tiny head popped up from the water—a miniature dragon with scales like shiny oranges! "Oh thank goodness," the dragon squeaked. "I'm Pearl, and I'm stuck. My wing is tangled in something!"
Lily knelt beside the pool. Sure enough, Pearl's shimmering wing was caught on an old cable snaking along the bottom. Probably left from the pool cleaning system long ago.
"I'll help!" Lily promised. But the cable was wrapped tight. She needed something slippery to slide it loose.
Her eyes lit up. "My mom's spinach! She uses olive oil to make it tasty!"
Lily raced to the kitchen and grabbed a handful of fresh spinach leaves. Back at the pool, she squeezed the spinach until its slippery juice coated her fingers. Then she reached into the magical water and rubbed the spinach juice all around the tangled cable.
The dragon held perfectly still. Gently, Lily worked the cable free, one loop at a time. The spinach juice made everything slippery and smooth.
"You did it!" Pearl chirped, shaking her wing free. Water droplets sparkled like tiny stars. "You saved me!"
Pearp flew up and circled Lily three times. Wherever she flew, the air smelled sweet—like sunshine and oranges. "For your kindness," Pearl said, "I'll leave you a gift."
The dragon dove deep and returned with a perfect orange flower that glowed softly. "Plant this beside your pool. It will bloom forever, and whenever you swim here, the water will make you feel brave and strong."
Lily planted the flower that night. The next morning, the pool wasn't glowing anymore, but a beautiful orange flower bloomed by the water's edge. And whenever Lily swam there, she did feel stronger—like she could do anything.
Moral: Even simple things like spinach can become magical when you use them to help someone in need.
