The Magic Pool Adventure
Lily loved summer days at her grandmother's house. The old backyard pool was nothing special—a round blue thing that smelled like chlorine and memories—but today felt different.
Her golden dog Max wagged his tail as Lily reached into her pocket. She held her iPhone, ready to take pictures of the sparkling water. But Max, being Max, bumped her leg with his wet nose. *Splash!* The phone sank into the deep end.
"No!" Lily cried. But something strange happened.
The pool didn't stay blue. It shimmered and turned into a swirling rainbow of colors. Out swam a tiny goldfish wearing a little crown made of pondweeds.
"Thank you for the gift!" the goldfish bubbled. Her voice sounded like wind chimes.
Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"
"Of course! But only in magic pools." The goldfish swam closer. "You dropped a shiny treasure into my home. The treasure magic wakes me up once every hundred years!"
Max woofed softly, his tail going crazy.
"Oh! A brave dog!" The goldfish giggled. "Would you like one wish? For the treasure gift?"
Lily thought hard. She could wish for her iPhone back. She could wish for a million toys. But she looked at Max, who was still staring at the rainbow water.
"I wish Max could swim with me without getting wet!"
The goldfish clapped her fins. "A friendship wish! The best kind!"
The water glowed golden. Suddenly, Max floated into the air surrounded by tiny sparkles. When he landed, he could swim through the water like a fish, staying perfectly dry!
All afternoon, Lily and her magical dog played in the pool with their new friend. The goldfish told stories of hidden oceans and singing whales. Max chased bubbles that never popped.
When the sun began to set, the goldfish yawned. "My magic time is ending. But remember—real treasures aren't things. They're the wishes we make for others."
She disappeared in a swirl of sparkles. The pool turned blue again. And on the edge, dry and perfect, sat Lily's iPhone.
Lily hugged Max. His fur was warm and dry. "Best treasure ever," she whispered.
That night, she took one photo: Max's paw prints beside the pool, glowing in the moonlight.
