The Magic Pool Adventure
Lily and Sam were best friends who loved summer days. They sat by the blue pool, their feet splashing in the cool water. The sun made everything sparkle like magic dust.
"I dare you to go underwater," Sam said with a grin.
Lily took a deep breath and dunked her head. When she came up, her orange swim shirt was dripping wet. She squeezed her hair like a fountain, and Sam laughed so hard he almost fell in.
Suddenly, something floated by them. It was green and bumpy, with one arm sticking up like it was waving hello.
"Is that... a zombie?" Lily whispered, eyes wide.
Sam fished it out. "No way! It's Mr. Green Zombie! I lost him last summer!"
The plastic zombie had been at the bottom of the pool for a whole year! His paint was faded, but he still had a tiny smile.
"He looks lonely," Lily said. "Maybe he was waiting for us to find him."
Sam nodded. "Let's be his friend now."
They spent the afternoon making Mr. Green Zombie an adventure. The pool became his ocean. An orange floatie was his magical island. Sam and Lily were the brave explorers who rescued him from his long, lonely wait.
"Being a friend means never giving up on someone," Sam's mom said when she brought them snacks.
That evening, Sam placed Mr. Green Zombie on his shelf where he could see the moon. "You're not alone anymore," he whispered.
Lily smiled. Sometimes the best friends are the ones you find when you're not even looking.
And somewhere deep in the magic of summer, a zombie learned that water and time couldn't wash away friendship.
