The Magic Pool Above the Clouds

Lily and Sam were best friends who loved exploring. Every Saturday, they'd hike through Whispering Woods behind their houses, looking for fairies, hidden caves, and treasure.

One rainy afternoon, they found something they'd never seen before. Deep in the forest, where the trees grew tallest, an old rusted **cable** stretched from one giant oak to another, disappearing into the mist above. A tiny wooden basket dangled from it, swaying gently in the wind.

"What do you think it's for?" Lily whispered, pressing closer.

Sam grinned. "Only one way to find out!"

They climbed into the basket together. It creaked and groaned, but somehow, it held them. As if by magic, the basket began to move along the cable, climbing higher and higher into the clouds.

Up, up, up they went! When the mist cleared, Lily gasped. There, nestled on a flat mountain peak, was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen—a glowing blue **pool** with sparkling water that shimmered like diamonds. Around its edge grew flowers that changed color when you looked at them.

"It's magical," Sam breathed, stepping out of the basket.

A tiny silver fish popped its head above the **water**. "Welcome, young friends," it said in a voice like wind chimes. "This is the Pool of Heart's Wishes. Those who are kind may make one wish. But remember—magic shared doubles in joy."

Lily thought of her grandmother, who missed walking in her garden. Sam thought of his little sister, who was afraid of the dark. They looked at each other and nodded.

"We wish," they said together, "for everyone in our village to find courage when they're afraid."

The fish smiled and splashed its tail. Rainbow light rippled across the water, then shot upward like fireworks, drifting down toward the world below like sparkling dust.

"Your gift is given," the fish said. "Now, will you visit again?"

"Every Saturday!" Lily promised.

And they did. But the real magic wasn't the wishes they made—it was the kindness they shared with everyone they met, which made their whole town sparkle forever after.
