The Magic Pool
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's backyard, especially on hot summer days. The old house held many secrets, but none were as wonderful as what she found behind the tall wooden fence.
There, hidden beneath a giant **palm** tree with leaves that danced in the breeze, was a small crystal-clear **pool**. The **water** shimmered like liquid diamonds, sparkling in ways that made Lily gasp with wonder.
"Are you looking for magic?" a tiny voice squeaked.
Lily jumped! A small green frog sat on a lily pad, wearing the tiniest blue **hat** she had ever seen. It looked like a birthday party hat, complete with a little pom-pom on top.
"I'm Ferdinand," the frog said, tipping his hat politely. "And this is the Wishing Pool. One wish per summer, and it must come from your heart."
Lily thought carefully. She could wish for ice cream every day, or a pony, or to fly like a bird. But then she remembered her little brother Tommy, who had been sad since his favorite toy rocket broke last week.
"I wish for Tommy to smile again," she said softly.
The **pool** began to glow. The **water** swirled with rainbow colors, and suddenly, a beautiful rocket made of crystal appeared floating on the surface. It was even better than his old one!
"A wish for someone else is the most powerful kind," Ferdinand said, his hat bobbing as he nodded. "True magic lives in kindness."
That afternoon, Tommy's laughter filled the house. Lily sat beneath the **palm** tree, watching the sunset, and knew she had discovered something better than any wish — the magic of making someone else happy.
And sometimes, she could hear Ferdinand's tiny voice on the breeze: "Remember, the best wishes are the ones we give away."
