The Magic Pool
Lily loved exploring her grandmother's backyard, especially the old stone pool hidden behind the rose bushes. It wasn't a swimming pool — it was a mysterious, mossy pond with sparkling water that shimmered like diamonds in the sunlight.
One hot afternoon, Lily sat by the pool, feeling lonely. She missed her old friends from the city. Suddenly, she noticed something strange. The water began to glow, and tiny bubbles rose to the surface.
From the depths of the magic pool emerged a magnificent creature — not a fish or frog, but a tiny, golden bull with silver horns and emerald eyes. He was no bigger than a kitten, but he stood proud and strong on the water's surface.
"Hello," the bull said in a voice like gentle thunder. "I am Bruno, guardian of the pool. I've been waiting for someone with a kind heart to visit."
Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"
"Magic pools bring magical surprises," Bruno replied with a wink. "Would you like to see my kingdom?"
He nodded toward the water, and suddenly Lily could see an entire world beneath the surface — crystal castles, rainbow fish, and gardens of seaweed that glowed like stars.
Bruno hopped onto the grass and told Lily stories of adventure, of brave explorers and hidden treasures. He made her laugh so hard she forgot about being lonely.
"Everyone needs a friend," Bruno said wisely. "Sometimes the best friends are the ones we find when we least expect them."
They spent the afternoon playing games and sharing secrets. As the sun began to set, Bruno explained that he could only leave the magic pool for a short time.
"Will I ever see you again?" Lily asked, feeling sad.
Bruno nuzzled her hand gently. "Whenever you visit, I'll be here. And remember, kindness makes the best magic of all."
Lily waved goodbye as the golden bull dissolved into sparkling light and returned to his watery kingdom. She walked home with a full heart, knowing she had found the most wonderful friend in the most unexpected place.
From that day on, Lily was never lonely. She had learned that magic exists everywhere, and true friends can be found in the most surprising places — even in a mysterious pool behind the rose bushes.
