The Magic Pool
Lily discovered the secret when she dropped her mom's iPhone near the old garden pool. The water didn't splash. Instead, it shimmered like rainbow jelly, and the phone floated on top, glowing with silver light.
A small cat with whiskers like spun gold appeared from the rosebush. "You've found it," the cat purred. "The Magic Pool that shows you what's in your heart."
Lily's eyes widened. "Really?"
"Touch the water and see," said the cat.
Lily reached out. The pool rippled, and suddenly she saw a gentle bull named Barnaby who lived in a meadow nearby. Barnaby was lonely because everyone was afraid of his size. His heart glowed golden with kindness in the magical water.
"He needs a friend," Lily whispered. "But I'm just little."
"Size doesn't matter to friendship," the cat said wisely. "Kindness is the biggest thing of all."
The next morning, Lily walked to the meadow. Barnaby raised his massive head, expecting her to run away. Instead, she sat near his fence and told him about the magic cat and the wonderful pool. Barnaby's eyes twinkled. By sunset, the bull and the girl were best friends.
Every day after school, Lily visited Barnaby. They shared stories and dreams. Sometimes the magic cat appeared, purring beside them. The iPhone had stopped working after its magical dip, but Lily didn't mind. She had found something better — friendship with the gentlest bull in the world.
And the pool? It still glows at night, waiting for other children whose hearts are brave enough to see that magic is real, and friends come in all sizes, even ones with horns and hooves.
