The Magic Pond's Secret
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house, especially the pond in the backyard. Every afternoon, she'd sit on the mossy bank and watch the orange **goldfish** dart between the lily pads like tiny underwater fireworks.
One hot summer day, Lily noticed something strange. The biggest goldfish, whom she'd named Sunny, was floating near the surface looking tired. His sparkly orange scales seemed dull, and he wasn't his usual playful self.
"What's wrong, little friend?" Lily whispered, leaning closer.
Sunny swam right up to her and — to Lily's amazement — spoke! "Hello, Lily! I'm not feeling well. The magic in our pond is fading because someone stopped leaving us special **vitamin** pebbles by the water's edge. Without them, we can't stay strong and magical."
Lily's eyes widened. "But who used to leave them?"
"The old gardener," Sunny explained sadly. "He moved away last month. Now we need a new friend to help us."
Without hesitation, Lily ran to her grandmother's kitchen. She found a jar of colorful, glowing pebbles — the very ones Sunny needed! Her grandmother explained that these special stones gave the pond fish their magic powers.
Carefully, Lily sprinkled the pebbles along the **water**'s edge. As each one touched the surface, it sent out ripples of rainbow light. Sunny swam happily around, gobbling up the magical treats.
"Thank you, Lily!" Sunny chirped, his scales returning to their brilliant orange. "Now we can show you our secret!"
Suddenly, the pond began to shimmer and sparkle. Lily watched in wonder as tiny bubbles rose to the surface. When they popped, beautiful music filled the air — like wind chimes but sweeter.
"Every full moon," Sunny explained, "the magic allows us to sing songs that make flowers bloom all over the garden. But we needed our vitamins to be strong enough!"
That night, Lily and her grandmother sat by the pond as the full moon rose. The goldfish began their magical concert, and everywhere the music reached, flowers opened their petals in brilliant colors. Red roses, yellow daisies, purple violets — the garden transformed into a rainbow wonderland.
"I'll always bring you your vitamins," Lily promised, hugging her grandmother.
"And we'll always sing for you," Sunny replied with a wink.
From that day on, Lily became the guardian of the magic pond. She learned that even the smallest friends sometimes need help, and that taking care of others brings the most wonderful magic of all — friendship.
