The Magic Phone in the Pool

Lily loved summer days, especially when her grandmother let her visit the old swimming hole in the backyard. The crystal-clear water sparkled like diamonds under the golden sun, and lily pads floated like tiny green boats.

One hot afternoon, Lily's golden retriever Barnaby bounded toward the pool with his favorite toy — a bright rubber ball — clenched in his mouth. But this time, something caught his eye near the water's edge.
