The Magic Padel's Midnight Game

Lily loved baseball more than anything. Every Saturday, she played with her friends at the old diamond behind the school. But tonight was different. The full moon made everything glow, and something strange was happening on the field.

Lily crept closer, her heart pounding like a drum. There, on the pitcher's mound, stood a zombie! But this wasn't a scary zombie like in movies. He was wearing a tattered baseball uniform and holding the most unusual thing — a glowing golden racquet called a padel.

"Want to play?" the zombie asked. His voice sounded like autumn leaves crunching.

Lily should have been afraid. Instead, she stepped forward. "What's a padel?"

"It's magic," the zombie smiled. "One hit sends the ball wherever you dream."

He tossed her a baseball. It sparkled like stardust. Lily swung the magic padel, and the ball soared through the night sky, leaving a trail of rainbow colors. CRASH! It broke through the clouds, and real stars rained down, turning into glowing fireflies.

"I'm Zed," said the zombie. "I've waited fifty years for someone brave enough to play."

"Fifty years?" Lily's eyes went wide. "But zombies are... scary."

"Only when people are scared of what's different," Zed said softly. "I just wanted a friend who likes baseball."

They played until dawn. The magic padel made every hit magical — balls became butterflies, strikes turned into sparkles. When the sun began to rise, Zed handed Lily the golden padel.

"Keep it," he whispered. "But use it wisely. Magic works best when shared with friends."

Lily woke up in her bed, the golden padel beside her shimmering in the morning light. Had it been a dream? She ran to the baseball field. There, etched into the dirt, were footprints that looked like something magical had danced there.

And sometimes, when Lily plays baseball now, the ball does extraordinary things — because friendship, like magic, is real.
