The Magic Padel Game
Lily loved her grandpa's old padel racket. It wasn't like the new ones at the sports store — this one had carvings of stars and moons along the wooden frame, and the netting sparkled like captured sunshine.
"This racket holds magic," Grandpa whispered, his eyes twinkling. "But only during special storms."
One rainy afternoon, Lily watched huge gray clouds gather. Thunder rumbled like a hungry tummy. Rain began to fall — first a sprinkle, then sheets of water that danced on her driveway.
Suddenly, something strange emerged from the garden. A green figure stood there, but it wasn't scary at all. It was a zombie, but not like in movies. This zombie wore flowered shorts and a friendly grin. Its mossy skin glowed softly in the gray light.
"Game time!" the zombie called, waving a padel racket of its own.
Lily grabbed Grandpa's magic racket. As she stepped onto the wet driveway, the carved stars began to glow.
They played the most wonderful game ever. Every time Lily hit the ball, water droplets swirled around it like tiny dancers. When the zombie returned a shot, the ball left trails of silver light.
CRACK! Lightning flashed across the sky. But instead of being scary, the lightning bolt zigzagged down and bounced on their padel ball, making it glow golden.
"That's the Storm Spirit saying hello!" the zombie laughed.
They played until the rain slowed. Lily realized she had made the most unusual friend — a garden zombie who loved padel as much as she did.
"Same time next storm?" Lily asked.
"You bet!" the zombie grinned as it faded back into the garden.
Lily hugged Grandpa's racket. She couldn't wait for the next magical game.
