The Magic Padel Court
Lily loved playing padel with her grandpa every Saturday. The court behind their old house had a mysterious crack in the wall, and Grandpa said, "That's where magic leaks in."
One evening, an orange glow pulsed from the crack. Lily crept closer and saw tiny creatures — no bigger than her thumb — dancing in circles. They looked like little zombies, but not scary ones. Their eyes were closed and their arms moved sleepily, as if dancing in a dream.
"We're the Snoozers," whispered the smallest one, wearing a hat made of orange peel. "Our magic cable broke! It connects our world to dreams. Without it, we'll fall asleep forever."
Lily's pocket buzzed. It was her old iphone, which she only used for games. Suddenly, its screen lit up with a swirling rainbow pattern.
"Your device can help!" cried the Snoozer. "The magic cable connects to things with hearts — real hearts or machine hearts that hold memories!"
Lily pressed her iphone against the crack. A sparkly cable made of starlight grew from the screen, weaving through the air until it touched the Snoozers' orange-hat leader. ZAP! The little creatures' eyes popped open, shining like tiny moons.
"You saved us!" they cheered. "Now we can bring sweet dreams to children everywhere!"
The Snoozers gave Lily a magical orange padel ball. "Whenever you hit this, it spreads happiness," they said, then disappeared through the crack, which sealed up tight.
The next Saturday, Grandpa watched as Lily hit the magical ball. It sailed over the court wall and into the neighborhood, where suddenly children everywhere started laughing and playing together.
"Some magic," Grandpa winked, "works best when you share it."
Lily smiled, understanding the best secret of all: kindness creates the strongest magic cable of all, connecting hearts everywhere.
