The Magic Orange's Baseball Game
Lily sat at the kitchen table, poking at her breakfast. It was Saturday, and her brother Tim was at baseball practice. She wished she could play too, but she was too little for the team.
"Take your vitamin," Mom said.
Lily swallowed it with a sigh. Then she picked up her orange. When she peeled it, it sparkled! Tiny lights like stars flashed in the segments.
On the counter, Dad's iPhone sat dark and silent. When Lily brought her glowing orange near it, the screen flickered to life with swirling colors. Without warning, the iPhone expanded into a shimmering doorway!
Lily stepped through and emerged onto a magnificent baseball field of emerald green. Tiny players the size of her thumb swung crystalline bats, and baseballs streaked across the sky like falling stars.
A fairy in a baseball uniform flew toward her. "Lily! We need your help! Your magical orange gives you the power to see what we cannot!"
The fairy sprinkled diamond dust on the orange, transforming it into a sparkling helmet. "Now you can join our team!"
Lily stepped onto the field, her heart racing. The opposing pitcher—a grumpy troll—glared from the mound.
"You'll never hit my fastball!" he sneered, throwing a ball that blazed like fire.
Lily focused. With her magical helmet, she spotted the ball's shimmering trail. She swung her bat and—CRACK! The ball soared into the stars, scoring three tiny players who cheered wildly.
Her teammates lifted her onto their shoulders as stars rained down.
A warm glow enveloped her. When it faded, she stood in her kitchen again. Her orange sat on the plate—ordinary once more.
"Lily!" Tim burst through the door. "Coach said I can bring you to practice tomorrow! He needs an assistant coach."
Lily beamed. Sometimes the most magical adventures begin with something as simple as an orange and a little bit of wonder.
