The Magic Orange Portal

Lily stared at the shiny orange in her hands. It wasn't just any orange—it was glowing! Her best friend Sam peeked over her shoulder.

"Whoa! Is that... magic?" Sam asked, eyes wide.

Suddenly, Lily's dad's old iphone on the table began to buzz. The screen flickered with swirling light, matching the orange's glow.

"I think your orange is a portal," Sam whispered. "Like in fairy tales!"

Lily squeezed the orange. Pop! A tiny creature no bigger than a thumb jumped out. It had sparkly wings and wore a little hat made of orange peel.

"Hello, young friends!" squeaked the creature. "I'm Zesty, the Vitamin Fairy! Our magical kingdom needs help!"

Lily and Sam exchanged excited glances. "We'll help!" they said together.

Zesty fluttered toward the iphone, which now showed a beautiful meadow inside its screen. "The Great Vitamin Tree is losing its glow. Only true friendship can make it shine again!"

Lily took Sam's hand. "Together?"

"Together!" Sam grinned.

They jumped through the iphone screen and landed in a world where everything was orange and gold. Flowers sung melodies, rivers flowed with orange juice, and butterflies left trails of glitter.

At the center stood the Great Vitamin Tree, its leaves fading from bright orange to dull gray.

"To restore its magic," Zesty explained, "you must each give something special. Not things—but feelings from your hearts."

Lily thought hard. "I give... kindness!" she said, remembering how she'd shared her lunch with a lonely kid at school.

Sam smiled. "I give... loyalty!" he said, thinking of how he'd never abandon a friend.

The tree rustled. Its leaves began to glow! But it needed one more thing.

Lily looked at Sam. "What if we give... our friendship together?"

They hugged each other tight. The tree burst with brilliant orange light! Vitamin sparkles rained down like confetti.

"You did it!" Zesty cheered. "The Great Vitamin Tree shines brighter than ever because true friendship is the most powerful vitamin of all!"

When Lily and Sam returned home, the iphone was just a phone again. But the orange still glowed softly, and whenever they felt sad, they'd squeeze it—and remember that friendship is the greatest magic of all.
