The Magic Orange Pool
Lily loved to visit her grandmother's cottage during summer vacation. Behind the cottage lay a secret place she had discovered just yesterday—a hidden pool tucked among tall trees. The water sparkled like diamonds when sunlight touched it, and tiny fish swam in circles below the surface.
One afternoon, Lily sat by the pool eating a juicy orange for lunch. As she peeled the bright fruit, a curious butterfly landed on her nose. Startled, Lily laughed and dropped her orange into the water with a splash!
"Oh no!" she cried, but then something magical happened. The moment the orange touched the water, ripples of orange spread across the pool like liquid sunshine. The fish swam to the surface, their scales shimmering with orange light. A small frog jumped onto a lily pad and croaked a happy song.
Suddenly, the pool began to glow, and a tiny water fairy appeared, no bigger than Lily's thumb. "Thank you for the gift!" the fairy chimed. "For one hundred years, I have waited for someone to share their orange with our pool. Your kindness has broken the spell!"
The fairy explained that a selfish wizard had cast a spell on the pool long ago, making it ordinary unless someone shared something precious without thinking of themselves. Lily's accidental drop had been an act of pure innocence.
As a reward, the fairy granted Lily one wish. But Lily smiled and said, "I don't need a wish. Seeing this magical moment is enough."
Touched by her answer, the fairy sprinkled orange dust over Lily. "From this day forward, whenever you visit, the pool will show you wonderful things." And true to her word, every time Lily returned, the water would transform—sometimes into rainbow colors, sometimes reflecting distant places, and always filling her heart with wonder.
Lily learned that the best magic comes from kindness and that sometimes the most wonderful discoveries happen by accident.
