The Magic Orange Cable
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's attic. It was filled with treasures from the past — old books, dusty teddy bears, and mysterious gadgets. One rainy Saturday, while exploring a box labeled MEMORIES, she found something strange: an old iPhone with a cracked screen and, wrapped around it, a cable that glowed with a soft orange light like a sunset captured in wire.
"What's this?" Lily whispered, uncurling the orange cable from around the phone. As soon as she touched it, the iPhone's screen flickered to life, displaying not apps or games, but a tiny door that opened slowly.
"Hello?" called a small voice from inside the screen. It was Oliver, a boy with messy hair and curious eyes, waving from what looked like another world.
"I'm Lily!" she replied, amazed. "How are you inside there?"
"The orange cable connects worlds," Oliver explained, reaching through the screen to offer her his hand. "It's a Friendship Bridge. Someone in your world must have loved someone in mine very much to create it."
Lily's eyes widened. She remembered her grandmother's stories about her best friend who had moved away when they were little girls. They'd promised to stay connected somehow.
"My grandmother!" Lily realized. "This must have been hers!"
Every day after school, Lily and Oliver met through the magic iPhone. They showed each other their worlds — Oliver's purple skies and singing flowers, Lily's green forests and chirping birds. They discovered that even though their worlds looked different, friendship felt exactly the same.
One day, the orange cable began to fade. "I have to go," Oliver said sadly. "The bridge is closing."
"But we'll remember each other, right?" Lily asked, her heart tight.
Oliver nodded. "True friendship doesn't need magic cables. It lives here." He pointed to his heart, then to hers.
The screen went dark, but Lily wasn't sad. She ran to her grandmother, who was crying happy tears while looking at an old photograph.
"Tell me about her," Lily said. "The friend who moved away."
Her grandmother smiled. "We promised we'd never forget each other. And we never did."
Lily hugged her tight, understanding the real magic. The orange cable had shown her that friendship, once real, lives forever — in memories, in stories, and most importantly, in hearts.
