The Magic Orange and the Hidden Pyramid

Lily loved summer afternoons at the neighborhood pool. She'd splash and dive until her fingers wrinkled like prunes. But today was different. Today she found something strange.

By the edge of the pool sat an orange. Not just any orange - this one glowed with a soft, golden light, pulsing like a tiny heartbeat. Lily picked it up, and warmth spread through her hands.

"Lily! Look at this!" shouted her best friend Mateo, running over. His eyes went wide. "That's not a regular orange. It's magic!"

Together they held the glowing fruit over the pool's crystal-blue water. Suddenly, ripples formed without any wind. The water began to swirl, and something incredible emerged from the depths - a pyramid made entirely of shimmering light.

"Whoa," Mateo breathed.

The pyramid floated above the water's surface, its sides spinning slowly. Ancient symbols glowed along its edges. Without thinking, Lily and Mateo reached out together, and the pyramid burst open like a flower.

Inside sat another pool, but this one was filled with stars instead of water. Reflected in its surface were images of children laughing, friends sharing secrets, families hugging.

"This is the Pool of Dreams," whispered a voice like soft chimes. An old woman appeared - she was made of moonlight and gentle smiles. "Long ago, I hid this magic pyramid to protect the most powerful magic of all."

"What magic?" Lily asked, clutching the orange tighter.

"Friendship," the woman said. "The orange you found appears only when two true friends need reminding of how special their bond is. Every time you choose kindness, every time you help each other, you feed this magic."

She touched Lily's shoulder, then Mateo's. "Never forget: the greatest adventures are the ones you share together."

The pyramid dissolved into sparkles that rained down like tiny suns. The orange in Lily's hand stopped glowing, becoming perfectly ordinary. But when she peeled it open later, she found something impossible inside - the sections formed two tiny hearts, joined together.

"Best friends forever?" Mateo asked, grinning.

"Forever and always," Lily promised.

And every summer after, whenever they swam in that pool together, the water seemed just a little bit brighter, as if starlight still danced beneath its surface.
