The Magic of Vitamin V

Leo stared at his dinner plate. The green pile looked like a small mountain. "Do I have to eat the spinach?" he groaned.

His grandma winked. "This isn't ordinary spinach, Leo. It's enchanted with Vitamin V—the Very Imagination Vitamin!"

Leo's eyes widened. "Really?"

"Really," Grandma nodded. "But you have to eat it all to see the magic."

Leo took a deep breath and gulped down the spinach. Suddenly, his messy brown hair began to sparkle like tiny stars! He gasped as he heard a tiny voice.

"Excuse me? Can you help me?"

Leo looked around. His room was empty except for his fishbowl on the desk. Inside, his pet goldfish—Goldie—was swimming frantically.

"Did you just talk?" Leo whispered.

Goldie swam to the glass. "Yes! The Vitamin V lets you hear me! Leo, my sister is trapped in the pond behind the old oak tree. The mean heron guards it!"

Leo felt brave. His sparkling hair seemed to glow brighter. "I'll help!"

They sneaked out into the moonlit garden. The grass felt like soft velvet under Leo's feet. Fireflies danced around them like tiny lanterns.

At the pond, a shadowy bird stood watch. Goldie's sister swam in circles, scared and alone.

Leo had an idea. He remembered something from school—herons were scared of loud noises! He cupped his hands and shouted, "BOO!"

The heron squawked and flew away!

Goldie's sister swam to them. "Thank you!" she bubbled.

Grandma found them by the pond. She smiled at Leo's sparkling hair. "The magic of Vitamin V—helping friends in need."

Leo grinned. His hair sparkled all the way home. Sometimes, the best adventures start with eating your vegetables!
