The Magic of Palm Island
Lily loved summer days at the beach with her golden retriever, Barnaby the dog. He would splash in the waves while she searched for seashells along the shore.
One afternoon, Lily sat beneath a towering palm tree, its leaves dancing in the warm breeze. She was looking at her mom's old iPhone, practicing how to take photos of the sparkling ocean. Suddenly, something magical happened.
When the sunlight hit her phone screen just right, it didn't show a picture. Instead, ripples of blue light swirled across the glass, like tiny waves trapped inside. Lily gasped as a tiny face appeared—a girl with sea-green hair and twinkling eyes.
"Hello!" the girl said. "I'm Coral, and I need your help! I'm trapped in a shallow tide pool, and the water is getting too warm for me to breathe. Can you find me?"
Lily had always believed in magic, but this was REAL magic! She whistled for Barnaby, and the faithful dog wagged his tail excitedly, as if he understood everything.
Together, Lily and Barnaby ran along the beach, searching tide pools until they found one—a beautiful pool filled with colorful shells. Inside, a tiny mermaid no bigger than Lily's hand was floating sadly.
"Coral!" Lily cried.
Without hesitation, Lily went swimming in the cool pool, carefully cupping Coral in her hands. Barnaby splashed happily beside her as Lily carried the little mermaid to the deeper ocean waters.
"Thank you!" Coral said, growing bigger and more beautiful with every wave. "You and your brave dog saved me! Take this as a gift." Coral pressed something into Lily's palm—a perfect shell that glowed with moonlight.
"Whenever you need a friend," Coral whispered, "hold this shell and call my name."
Lily watched her new friend swim away into the deep blue, and Barnaby barked happily at the waves. That night, as Lily fell asleep, the shell on her nightstand still glowed softly, reminding her that magic exists for those who believe in kindness, friendship, and helping others in need.
