The Magic of Moonlight Pool
Leo loved summer nights in his backyard. The swimming pool sparkled under the stars like a giant bowl of liquid diamonds. But tonight, something magical was about to happen.
As Leo dipped his toes into the cool water, he saw a flash of orange. A tiny goldfish with shimmering scales swam right up to him. "Hello!" said the goldfish. "I'm Finn!"
Leo gasped. "You can talk?"
"Only when the moon is full," Finn explained. "And only to special friends who believe in magic."
Finn told Leo about the secret magic of the pool. "When children splash and play during the day, their happiness fills the water. At night, it becomes moonlight magic!"
Suddenly, the pool began to glow. Tiny bubbles floated up, and the water turned to sparkles. "Look!" cried Finn. "The zombie flowers are waking up!"
Leo laughed. In the garden, the plastic zombie decorations his mom had put up for Halloween were slowly dancing to music only they could hear. They weren't scary at all—they were silly and clumsy, wiggling their arms and bobbing their heads.
"They dance every night," Finn said. "They're the happiest zombies in the world because they make children laugh."
Leo splashed the water, creating ripples of silver light. Finn swam through each ripple, leaving trails of rainbow colors. The zombie flowers spun around faster, their plastic grins looking almost joyful.
This was the magic of summer nights, of friendship found in unexpected places, of wonder waiting in the most ordinary spots.
"Will you be here tomorrow?" Leo asked.
Finn nudged his hand with his nose. "Always. Real friends never leave."
As the moon began to fade, the sparkles dimmed. The zombie flowers settled back into their sleepy poses. But Leo knew the truth now—magic was everywhere, if you only believed.
He went to bed with a heart full of wonder, already counting the hours until he could visit his friend Finn again. Some secrets are too wonderful to keep—but the best ones are the ones you share with friends who believe in magic too.
