The Magic Lake Secret
Lily loved exploring behind her house, especially near the old oak tree where the stream sparkled like diamonds in the sun. One afternoon, her golden retriever Max started barking excitedly at something glinting under the roots.
Curious, Lily dug through the soft earth and found a dusty glass bottle filled with glowing orange pills. Each one was shaped like a tiny star. She picked up her iPhone to take a picture, but the screen flickered strangely, showing words floating in the air: MAGIC VITAMIN — ONE GRANTER'S WISH.
Max whimpered and pawed at the bottle. Could this be real? Lily remembered how her grandmother always said, "The forest holds secrets for those who believe."
That night, Lily swallowed one glowing vitamin while Max watched with big brown eyes. Suddenly, her bedroom transformed! The walls melted away, replaced by towering pine trees and a magnificent blue lake that shimmered under moonlight.
A giant bear emerged from the water, but instead of being scary, he had a kindly face and twinkling eyes. "You've found the forest's magic," the bear rumbled gently. "But magic vitamins only work if your wish comes from kindness."
Lily thought hard. She could wish for anything — toys, adventures, even a castle! But then she remembered Max, who had been limping lately. "I wish my dog Max could run and play like he used to."
The bear smiled and touched Max's paw with his nose. In that moment, Lily understood the real magic wasn't in vitamins or wishes at all.
When Lily woke up, her room was ordinary again. But Max was jumping happily, his leg completely healed. The bottle was gone, replaced by a single white feather from the bear's fur.
Sometimes, Lily realized, the best magic comes not from what we can get for ourselves, but from what we can give to those we love. And that was a vitamin for her heart that would last forever.
