The Magic in Leo's Palm
Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he'd grab his glove and run to the park, his messy brown hair flying behind him like a flag. But today was different. Leo's team, the Suns, was playing against the Rockets, and Leo was nervous.
While walking through the park, Leo noticed something strange under an old palm tree. A glowing orange sat alone in the grass, shining like a tiny sun. Curious, Leo picked it up. As soon as the orange touched his palm, warmth spread through his fingers, and his hair started to sparkle!
"Make a wish," whispered the orange.
Leo couldn't believe it! A magical orange? "I wish I could hit a home run today!" he said excitedly.
His hair turned golden-orange, and he felt powerful. At the game, Leo hit the ball so hard it sailed over the fence! His teammates cheered. But then he saw his friend Maya crying. She'd missed every pitch and felt terrible.
Leo looked at the orange still glowing in his palm. He remembered the warmth it gave him—the warmth of friendship, not just magic.
"I wish for Maya to hit the ball too," Leo whispered.
His regular brown hair returned, and the orange's light dimmed. When Maya stepped up to bat, her eyes met Leo's. She smiled, focused, and—CRACK! The ball flew through the air! Maya jumped up and down, grinning.
After the game, Leo checked his palm. The orange was gone, but something else remained: a small seed of understanding. True magic wasn't in wishes or sparkles—it was in kindness, friendship, and believing in each other.
From that day on, Leo didn't need magical oranges. Every time he helped a friend, his hair seemed to shine just a little bit brighter anyway.
