The Magic in Leo's Palm

Leo loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, he'd grab his favorite bat and practice in the backyard while Buster, his golden retriever, chased the ball no matter how far it flew.

One hot afternoon, Leo hit the ball harder than ever. It sailed over the fence and landed right in their swimming pool with a splash. Buster ran to the edge, barking excitedly.

"Good boy, Buster!" Leo ran over and reached into the cool water with the palm of his hand. But when his fingers touched the ball, something strange happened.

The water began to glow. Tiny bubbles swirled around his hand like golden stars. Suddenly, the pool wasn't a pool anymore—it was a window into another world!

Leo gasped as he saw something amazing. Beneath the water's surface, little creatures were playing baseball with acorns and stones. They had fuzzy blue fur and wore caps made from flower petals.

One of the creatures looked up and spotted Leo. She waved four tiny hands and smiled.

"You found us!" she chirped, floating up to the surface. "I'm Pippin! We've been waiting for someone with a kind heart to discover our game."

Buster sniffed Pippin, then gave her a gentle lick. She giggled.

"Dogs can always see the magic in the world," Pippin explained. "That's why Buster knew something special was here."

Leo learned that the pool was a portal between worlds, open only to those who played with joy and kindness. Every day that summer, Leo and Buster visited Pippin and her friends. They taught Leo that baseball wasn't about winning—it was about friendship, laughter, and playing together.

"The real magic," Pippin told him, "isn't in portals or glowing pools. It's in the palm of your hand whenever you reach out to help a friend."

When school started again, Leo still played baseball, but now he shared his equipment, encouraged nervous teammates, and always made sure everyone was included.
