The Magic Hat's Secret Friend
Lily discovers an enormous purple hat in her grandmother's attic. It's fuzzy and warm, with silver stars stitched around the brim. When she tries it on, the hat wiggles!
Suddenly, Lily isn't in the attic anymore. She's standing in a meadow where the grass sparkles like tiny emeralds. An orange tree grows in the center—but these aren't ordinary oranges. Each one glows with golden light!
"You found me!" barks a voice. A small dog with rainbow-colored fur bounces toward her. His name is Barnaby, and he's the meadow's guardian. "The Magic Hat chose you!"
Barnaby explains that the orange tree's magic is fading. Only someone from the Outside World can help. Lily realizes she has her iPhone in her pocket—she'd been playing games before finding the hat.
"What if..." Lily whispers. She opens the camera and takes a photo of the glowing oranges. The magical light from the oranges flows right into her phone, making the screen shimmer like sunset.
Barnaby's tail wags so fast it becomes a blur. "Now the magic is safe! The photo keeps it alive forever!"
Lily and Barnaby spend the afternoon playing among the sparkling grass. When it's time to leave, Barnaby presses something into her hand—a small orange that still glows faintly.
"So you'll always remember your friend," he says.
Back in the attic, Lily removes the purple hat. Her phone still glows with magical light, and the orange sits safely on her nightstand that night, a reminder that adventure and friendship can be found in the most unexpected places—even inside an old hat in grandmother's attic.
