The Magic Hat's Secret
Lily loved her grandma's old purple hat. It sat on a hook in her room, wide-brimmed and speckled with tiny silver stars. Every time she looked at it, something special sparkled in her heart.
One sunny afternoon, a plump orange cat named Marmalade padded into Lily's room. His whiskers twitched as he stared at the purple hat.
"Don't you dare!" Lily giggled, but Marmalade already leaped!
CRASH! The hat tumbled to the floor, and suddenly—it wasn't a hat anymore. It became a swirling pool of purple light, deep and shimmering like a galaxy.
Lily gasped. A tiny goldfish swam through the purple light, leaving trails of silver bubbles behind it.
"Follow me!" the goldfish bubbled, and Lily reached out...
WHOOSH!
Lily and Marmalade tumbled into a magical world where orange rivers flowed through cotton-candy clouds. Fish with rainbow fins jumped between islands made of giant books.
The goldfish—now big as a dolphin—nosed Lily's hand. "I'm Finn! Welcome to the Library of Dreams!"
Marmalade's fur puffed up in wonder. A fish made of pure starlight nudged his nose, and he purred so loudly that nearby wind chimes rang.
"Every story ever told lives here," Finn explained. "But someone hasn't been reading enough dreams lately. The orange rivers are fading!"
Lily's eyes widened. She knew exactly what to do.
Every night, her grandma read her stories. But lately, Lily had been too busy with video games to listen.
That evening, Lily curled up with Grandma and her purple hat. They read three whole storybooks. Marmalade slept on Lily's lap, purring.
And in the magical world, the orange rivers glowed brighter than ever.
Sometimes the best adventures are the ones we share with the people we love.
