The Magic Hat's Secret

Lily loved her big blue hat with the silver star on front. It was her swimming hat, her adventure hat, her everything hat. Every Saturday, she wore it to the community pool where she met her best friend, Mateo.

One hot afternoon, they were the only ones in the pool. Lily's iPhone sat on the bench nearby—Mom had said she could bring it for music. But suddenly, a tiny splash sparkled in the water, and something magical happened.

The silver star on Lily's hat began to glow! A small water dragon, no bigger than a goldfish, popped up beside her.

"Help!" squeaked the dragon. "My friends are trapped in the Deep End Kingdom! The giant wave is coming!"

Lily and Mateo exchanged excited looks. Without hesitation, they started swimming toward the deep end. But the water grew darker and scarier with every stroke.

"Use your hat's magic!" the tiny dragon urged.

Lily concentrated on her hat. Suddenly, it projected a brilliant blue light through the water—just like her iPhone flashlight, but a thousand times stronger! The light revealed a beautiful underwater kingdom where tiny sea creatures were indeed cowering behind rocks.

Mateo spotted the problem: a blocked drain was creating dangerous currents. Together, the friends worked to clear it while the dragon directed them. When the last rock was moved, the water calmed instantly.

"Thank you!" cheered all the sea creatures. "You saved our kingdom!"

The dragon gave Lily a waterproof pearl that glowed like her hat's star. "Whenever you're swimming and need help, just hold this pearl."
