The Magic Hat's Midnight Journey

Luna's favorite purple hat sat on her head like a fluffy cloud. It was no ordinary hat — Grandmother had stitched it with silver threads that sparkled like captured stars.

One warm summer evening, Luna heard a strange sound. She peered through her window and saw her best friend Mateo shuffling through the garden. His arms were stretched forward, his eyes closed tight, moving like a funny zombie from storybooks.

"Mateo?" she whispered. But he kept walking, drawn toward the moonlit forest beyond their houses.

Luna grabbed her flashlight and started running, darting past the garden gate. "Mateo, wait!" she called, but her sleepwalking friend disappeared between the ancient trees.

Deep in the forest, Luna discovered Mateo standing beneath an enormous tree. But she wasn't the only one watching. A massive bear emerged from the shadows, her fur gleaming like polished copper. Luna froze, but the bear only dipped her head kindly and nudged something toward Mateo's feet.

It was a papaya, glowing with soft golden light.

"Eat," Luna somehow knew the bear was saying without speaking.

Gently, Luna pressed the magical fruit to Mateo's lips. He took one bite, and his eyes fluttered open. "Luna? Why am I in the forest?"

"You were sleepwalking," she explained. "But look — we made a friend."

The bear wrapped both children in a warm, furry embrace, and Luna's hat sparkled brighter than ever. She understood now: her hat wasn't just magical. What made it truly special was that it always led her toward friendship and adventure.

Hand in paw with the bear, they walked home under the stars, already planning tomorrow's adventure. Because the best magic, Luna discovered, was helping friends — even the zombie-sleepwalking kind.
