The Magic Goldfish's Wish
Lily loved her orange hat more than anything in the world. It had belonged to her grandmother, and Lily believed it held magic inside its soft, woolen folds.
One sunny afternoon, Lily was running through the garden when she spotted something amazing. A tiny goldfish was swimming in the air above the spinach patch! The fish shimmered like a living rainbow, its scales catching the sunlight.
"Hello!" Lily called out, stopping in her tracks.
The goldfish swam closer to her face. "Hello, Lily. I've been waiting for someone kind to find me."
Lily's eyes grew wide. "You can talk! And fly!"
"I'm a magical goldfish," the fish explained with a smile. "I grant one special wish to pure-hearted children. But be careful — magic works best when it helps others."
Lily thought hard. She could wish for toys, or candy, or adventures. But then she remembered her neighbor, Mr. Thompson, who couldn't walk to his garden anymore to grow his favorite vegetables.
"I wish," Lily said softly, "that Mr. Thompson could tend his garden again, even from his wheelchair."
The goldfish sparkled brighter than ever. A warm orange glow surrounded Lily and the fish. suddenly, the spinach patch began to grow — but not just ordinary spinach. Magical vegetables that would never wilt and would be easy to reach from a wheelchair.
"Thank you," the goldfish whispered. "Your kindness has made real magic today."
Lily ran to tell Mr. Thompson the good news, her orange hat bobbing with every step. She learned that day that the best magic comes from helping others, and that sometimes, the most wonderful adventures begin with a kind heart.
