The Magic Goldfish's Wish

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house by the ocean. Every day, she sat under the swaying palm tree in the backyard, dreaming of adventures. One afternoon, while playing catch with her baseball, she noticed something shimmering in the old garden pond.

To her surprise, a tiny goldfish with golden scales that sparkled like diamonds swam to the surface.

"Hello, young friend," the goldfish spoke in a voice like gentle ripples.

Lily's eyes grew wide. "You can talk?"

"I'm a magic goldfish," it explained. "I grant one wish to kind children who help others. What would your heart desire?"

Lily thought carefully. She could wish for endless candy, or a room full of toys, or even to be the best baseball player in the world. But then she remembered the new girl at school, Mia, who sat alone every day at recess because she had moved from far away and didn't know anyone.

"I wish for Mia to have a best friend," Lily said finally.

The goldfish's scales glowed brighter than ever. "Your wish shows a beautiful heart. Sometimes the best wishes are the ones we make for others."

The next day at school, Lily invited Mia to play baseball during recess. Mia's face lit up—she loved baseball! They played together every day after that, and soon Mia made more friends too.

Lily never told anyone about the magic goldfish, but every time she saw Mia laughing with their classmates, she felt warm inside. She had learned that true magic isn't about wishes—it's about kindness and the courage to reach out to someone who needs a friend.

Sometimes, when the sun was just right, Lily could still see golden sparkles dancing on the garden pond, reminding her that the best adventures are the ones that start with an open heart.
