The Magic Goldfish's Gift

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house by the lake. Every summer, she'd spend hours skipping stones and watching the ripples dance across the water. But this summer was different.

One afternoon, Lily found something strange near the dock — an old iPhone that someone had dropped. The screen still worked! As she tapped it, tiny blue sparks flew from the glass like little lightning bugs.

Suddenly, the pond began to glow. A goldfish with shimmering orange scales popped its head above the surface.

"You found the Magic Phone!" the goldfish said in a bubbly voice. "I've been waiting for someone kind enough to return it."

Lily's eyes grew wide. "You can talk?"

"Of course! My name is Finny, and I'm the guardian of this pond. That iPhone belongs to the Water Spirit who brings rain to our valley. It's been missing for weeks, and the gardens are dying of thirst."

Lily looked around. The grass did look brown and crispy.

"How can I help?" she asked.

"Hold the phone high and make a wish for rain," Finny said. "But remember — magic only works for those who help others first."

Lily thought carefully. She could wish for anything — toys, candy, adventures. Instead, she closed her eyes and whispered, "Please bring rain to all the thirsty gardens and farms."

The iPhone crackled with energy. A bolt of lightning shot from its screen into the sky, where it burst into a thousand tiny sparkles. Dark clouds gathered, and gentle rain began to fall.

"Thank you, Lily!" Finny cheered. "Your selflessness saved the valley."

The next morning, everything was green and blooming. Lily returned the iPhone to its proper place, knowing that true magic comes not from wishes granted, but from hearts that care for others.

And sometimes, she still visits the dock, where Finny the goldfish always has a splashy welcome ready for his friend.
