The Magic Garden's Secret Friend
Lily loved her grandmother's garden, especially the patch where the green **spinach** leaves grew bigger every day. But her favorite spot was the small pond, where a bright orange **goldfish** named Finny swam in happy circles.
One sunny afternoon, Lily noticed something strange. Her usually curly brown **hair** started floating upward, as if touched by invisible magic! The spinach leaves shimmered with sparkles, and Finny the goldfish jumped right out of the water, growing tiny wings!
"Lily!" Finny squeaked in a tiny voice. "The garden needs your help! A lonely garden zombie has been sleeping near the oak tree for one hundred years. He's not scary – he's just forgotten how to be a friend because nobody ever played with him!"
Lily's eyes widened with wonder. She wasn't afraid at all. She started **running** toward the old oak tree, her magical hair streaming behind her like a comet tail. There, half-hidden among the flowers, sat a friendly-looking creature made of vines and leaves, looking very sad and lonely.
"Hello!" Lily called out cheerfully. "I'm Lily, and this is Finny. Want to play?"
The garden zombie's eyes opened wide. Nobody had ever asked him to play before! His leafy face broke into a huge smile. Together, they played tag among the sunflowers, had tea parties with acorn cups, and danced in the moonlight.
Lily learned that day that sometimes the things that seem scary or different are just lonely friends waiting for someone to say hello. And every day after that, she, Finny, and their new friend Zomby (as they named him) had magical adventures in the garden, where spinach sparkled, goldfish could fly, and friendship was the greatest magic of all.
